Xirus Alpha: Released!

(Zsuzsanna Püspöki) #1

Dear Xirus users,

Xirus Alpha with full Rhino BRep integration is now available for download! From now on, you can apply ALL Rhino-NURBS commands to Xirus: e.g., trim, offset, filet, chamfer, sweep, object snap, and much more!

To use Xirus Alpha, you have to download the software from https://mirrakoi.com/xirus-for-rhino and request a new license key.

The new free Xirus® Alpha license key can be used to install Xirus® Alpha on up to 5 machines. The unique license key will be sent to you by e-mail. Be aware that previous license keys for the Xirus WIP are no longer valid.

Xirus Alpha - New Features:

  • FULL compatibility with any Rhino surfacing workflow: run any surface/curve tool (point snapping, rebuild, offset, etc.) on your Xirus object.
  • Convert any Rhino surface/polysurface/curve to Xirus. Then benefit from the augmented modelling properties that Xirus offers.
  • Improved watertight junctions with smoothness control: when joining 2 or more Xirus surfaces, they can be treated as one single object, keeping a smooth junction in between.
  • XirusJoin command: join a set of Xirus surfaces and treat them as a single object. Points that coincide are welded and jointly controlled including tangents and derivatives.
  • Enhanced “explode”, “extract” and “remove” commands. Any Xirus polysurface can be exploded into surface units or face units.

With the BRep integration, Xirus Alpha provides easy-to-use surface modeling and subdivision tools and surface/face editing commands to join and divide complex/simple patches and create high-quality complex models.

It crashes my rhino5.

(Zsuzsanna Püspöki) #3

Hi @quaritexa,
Could you please specify exactly which steps led to the Rhino crash, so we can reproduce it?
Thanks,
Zsuzsanna

(quaritexa) #4

I click any tool. Сlick on viewport. Rhino crashes.
But on other PC all works good.

(Daniel Schmitter) #5

Did you already have the previous Xirus WIP running without this crash?

Can you try to uninstall and reinstall Xirus alpha?

To uninstall:
Go to Windows Explorer. In the address bar type %APPDATA%. Go to McNeel > Rhinoceros > 5.0 > Plug-ins > Xirus. Double-click on the file ‘Uninstall’.

We have released a minor update of Rhino Alpha to version number 1.2.0.1. with improved stability related to subdivision and tangent control.

Just try to use any Xirus Command and It crashes Rhino 5 at the first use without any information.

Rhino 5.13 (new installation)
Windows 7

(jperez5) #9

It crashes my Rhino 5 too… I click in any tool and I get a error message…

(Zsuzsanna Püspöki) #10

Hi @quaritexa, @jperez5, @Jeorane,

We are trying to reproduce the crashes and provide a solution ASAP. We will contact you with further information in the next couple of days.

Thank you for your patience.

(Zsuzsanna Püspöki) #11

Hi @Jeorane, @jperez5, @quaritexa,

We’ve been able to reproduce the crash, and it’s due to a bad configuration in the Windows MachineKeys: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ph/help/278381/default-permissions-for-the-machinekeys-folders.

Soon we have an update of Xirus preventing it from crashing, but you can solve it now by executing the following steps:

  1. Make sure Rhino is closed.
  2. Download https://support.soraco.co/hc/en-us/article_attachments/360001917246/QlmDiagnostics.zip and extract it.
  3. Run windows PowerShell as an admin (right click, “run as an administrator”).
  4. Go to the folder you downloaded the file, and execute it by “.\QlmDiagnostics /rsa”.
  5. You can now activate and use Xirus for Rhino.

Hope it helps.
Best,
Zsuzsanna

Virus detected! Chrome said

You no longer need to download this file manually, the new Xirus Alpha installer shall automatically handle these steps/issues.

I assume that this alert is due to the fact that the developer is not yet identified as a “trusted developer” by your antivirus. Usually antivirus and operating systems block executable files if the developer of those is not in their whitelist.

Best,
Zsuzsanna

HI…
